DATENSCHUTZ – kurz gesagt
- Keine fremden Analyse-Dienste.
1. Was auf deinem Computer gespeichert wird
- Einstellungen (Sprache, Audio-Gerät, Amp, Rhythmus, Münzen, Sammlung, Fortschritt in der Musikschule).
- Dein Profil: Spielername, Land, Stadt, Sprachen, Instrumente, Niveau, Lieblings-Genres, Bilder, Pinnwand.
- Aufnahmen (Ordner „Musik/Jam Line“), eigene Songs, Chat-Verläufe.
2. Was beim Zusammenspielen übertragen wird (direkt an deinen Mitspieler)
Was dein Mitspieler damit macht (z.
- deinen Cloud-Stand (Münzen, Gold, Sammlung, Zimmer, Fortschritt, eigene Songs, Profil-Einstellungen),
3. Ehrliches Alter. Gib dein echtes Geburtsjahr an.

PRIVACY – in short
- No third-party analytics. Ads only when you start them yourself (📺 for 10 minutes of free sounds) – then from Google AdMob (see section 4b).
- Anonymous usage counting only with your consent (see section 6b) – can be switched off in your profile at any time.
- Without an online account everything you set up, record or collect stays on your computer.
- The online account is optional. Only then does the JL server store data about you (see section 6).
- On the same Wi-Fi, playing together goes directly to your partner.
1. Stored on your computer
- Settings (language, audio device, amp, rhythm, coins, collection, music school progress).
- Your profile: player name, country, city, languages, instruments, level, favourite genres, pictures, pinboard. Your e-mail/phone number stays here only and is never sent to anyone.
- Recordings (folder “Music/Jam Line”), your own songs, chat history.
You can delete all of this at any time by removing the files or the “Jam Line” folder in your application data.
2. Sent when playing together (directly to your partner)
- Your instrument and microphone sound (UDP, port 9001) – live, it is not stored unless you record together.
- Your IP address – without it the other computer cannot reach you.
- Your profile (name, details, pictures, pinboard) when your partner looks at it (port 9002).
- Chat messages, voice and video during calls, recordings you explicitly share, and the chosen place (rehearsal room, room, stage).
What your partner does with it (e.g. keeping a joint recording) is up to them. Only connect with people you trust.
3. Microphone and camera
The microphone or audio interface is needed for the tuner, amp, recordings and playing together. The camera only when you switch on video during a call. You can revoke both in your system settings at any time.
4. Shop links
Links in the shop lead to music retailers (e.g. specialist shops, Thomann, Music Store, Amazon). Only when you open a link do that retailer's privacy rules apply. Some links may contain a partner tag; this does not cost you anything extra.
4b. Ads (phone only, only when you tap 📺)
The ad spots come from Google AdMob (Google Ireland Ltd.). In the EU, Google asks for your consent the first time; without consent you only get non-personalised ads or the app's own ad break. When you start a spot, Google processes e.g. device identifiers (advertising ID), IP address, approximate location and interactions with the ad – under Google's privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy). Change your consent under “About Jam Line” → “📺 Ad settings”. On computers there are no third-party ads.
4c. Plus subscription
You buy and cancel the subscription via Apple or Google. JL only receives the purchase number and expiry date, no payment details. If you are signed in, the server stores both with your account so Plus also works on your other devices.
5. Children and teenagers
Your year of birth is required for anything you do together online. It stays private (others cannot see it; adults may choose to show their age) and is only used to determine your age group: 6–8, 9–11, 12–14, 15–17, 18+. Children and teenagers only see and meet their own age group online, adults only adults. There are no online partners under the age of 6. After 24 hours the year of birth can only be changed by us.
Under 13, a parent must also agree: the child enters a parent's e-mail address and we send a single link to agree or decline. We store the address, the decision and when it was made – only for this purpose, never public, and deleted with the account. Parents can change their decision via the link at any time.
On Wi-Fi only people of the same age group are found automatically; you can connect directly by IP address (e.g. parents with their child).
Reports: the JL team reviews reports (reason, text, where it happened, who reported). If two different people report someone's age, the account is paused until it has been reviewed. We can block accounts from online contact or correct the year of birth. Reports are kept for at most 12 months after they are closed. If a blocked user deletes their account, only a checksum of the e-mail address is kept until the block ends, so they cannot sign up again straight away.
6. Online account (optional)
If you sign in, the JL server (located in Germany) stores:
- your e-mail address (only for signing in – nobody else ever sees it),
- your public profile (player name, country, city, languages, instruments, level, genres, drawn figure) and when you were last online,
- your cloud save (coins, gold, collection, room, progress, own songs, profile settings),
- messages to partners (chat, call signals, invitations) – at most 7 days, until they are picked up,
- purchases and subscriptions (which pack or plan, when, purchase number, expiry date). Payment is handled by Apple, Google or Stripe – JL never sees card details.
- group and stage chats (messages and reactions): friend groups 30 days, stage chat 1 day.
- requests on the meeting point (24 hours) and reports you file about others (the reported person does not see them).
When you play over the internet, the server forwards your sound without storing it. It only counts how many minutes per day you played over the internet and notes whether you have Plus and are currently recording (for a possible playing-time limit).
A basic word filter replaces swear words in chats. Anyone reported by three different people within 24 hours cannot write for 24 hours.
6a. Feedback & test report
If you write to us via “💬 Feedback”, your message, a screenshot (only if you attach one), device details (system, audio device, app version) and – optionally – your name or contact are sent to the JL server and by e-mail to the JL team so we can reply. It is deleted once resolved, at the latest after 12 months.
6b. Anonymous usage counting (only with consent)
If you agree, the app counts which areas and features are used (e.g. how often the rehearsal room is opened, which amp is chosen or a shop link is clicked) and regularly sends these numbers in batches to the Jam Line server. Only a random device number is used – no name, no e-mail, no account, no recordings and no chat content. Switch off: Profile → “📊 Help anonymously”.
6c. Songs from PDF and text files
Imported songs stay on your device only. They are not uploaded to the cloud or shared with anyone – lyrics are usually protected by copyright.
7. Your rights
You can delete your account at any time in the app (Profile → Online account → Delete account). Your profile, cloud save and messages are then deleted from the server; purchases are kept only as long as tax law requires. Access, correction, objection: see imprint.
THANKS
- JUCE (audio framework).
- Drum recordings: “Big Rusty Drums” by Karoryfer Samples (CC0).
- All example songs are traditional or more than 100 years old (public domain).
📜 COMMUNITY RULES FOR JAM LINE
Jam Line is for making music together – for children, teenagers and adults. So that everyone feels welcome:
1. Be kind. No insults, bullying, threats or hate against people because of origin, religion, gender, disability, age or sexual orientation.
2. No objectionable content: nothing sexual, no violence, no drugs, no advertising or spam – not in chat, profiles, pinboards, songs or pictures.
3. Honest age. Enter your real year of birth. Anyone pretending to be younger or older to reach other age groups will be banned permanently.
4. Protect children. Adults do not seek contact with children. Nobody asks for addresses, phone numbers, photos or meetings. If this happens to you: 🚩 report and block right away – and tell your parents.
5. Your own music. Only upload recordings and pictures you have the rights to. Other people's lyrics imported from PDFs stay private on your device.
6. Report & block. You can report any person, message or post. We review reports within 24 hours and remove content or ban accounts that break these rules. Anyone reported by several people is muted or paused automatically.
If the rules are broken, Jam Line may delete content and suspend accounts temporarily or permanently without warning. Questions or help: 💬 Feedback in the app.
